One of the most prestigious names in auto racing in North America will cease operations shortly with the sale of Brumos Automotive. The seven Brumos concessions, including one located in Jacksonville (Florida) were sold to Fields Auto Group, which operates about 40 franchises across the country. (In English)
"The decision was a difficult one because I am so fond of people from Brumos" said Dan Davis, majority shareholder, in a statement. "They did a good job in customer service by helping to grow our business. "
Founded in 1959, Brumos started in motorsport virtually from its inception. Peter Gregg Racing Brumos launched in 1971 with the key no less than four victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1973, 1975, 1978 and 2009. Despite the acquisition of Brumos by Dan Davis and Bob Snodgrass in 1990, Brumos continued its activities on the GRAND-AM circuits through 2011.
The Brumos Racing has definitely ended its involvement in motorsport end of 2013 although the team has supported the commitment of a Porsche 911 GT America in Tudor United SportsCar Championship on behalf of Dempsey / Wright Motorsports.
According to a report on the Florida Times-Union, the name will be replaced by Brumos Fields after the sale became effective, so in February 2016.
